Each year, videos are accepted in the different themes.
Some recent themes have been:
•What I would like the world to know about
my school (continuing from Phase 1)
•Moving Vocations (profiles of 21st century
jobs)
•Moving Forward (profiles of local people
working to solve 21st century problems)
•Moving Waters (stories about importance
and quality of community water and action remedies)
We urge teachers to consider joining the MovingVoices
online learning environment within the iEARN.org
network. The
course is equally
exciting for both students
"We learned how to use a video camera and how to edit
a video. We also learned how to develop our ideas and how to work
in groups. It was interesting to get to know other children from
different countries, it was very exciting."
and teachers
"I could integrate the teaching of English as a foreign language
to this project. The course helped me integrate the project with
content standards, in developing comfort and confidence using online
forums, meet other teachers, develop technology skills and new ideas
for teaching."
MovingVoices is an actual online/computer-based movie-making course,
coupled with an interactive support network. It provides educators
and learners with a unique opportunity to share experiences with
other MovingVoices classrooms around the world.
Teachers tell us that the experience was the key to bridging a
number of learning curves for meaningfully integrating digital video
technology into their classrooms.
The MovingVoices Online Professional Development Course
iEARN plans to offer the MovingVoices course twice each year. During
this time, both facilitators and participants get to know each other,
and share thoughts, insights, and experiences. Together, they shape
and construct the learning that evolves from their interaction and
collaboration, forming their own community of practice. Given the
technical know-how required to produce videos for the World Wide
Web, the importance of expert facilitation cannot be over-emphasized.
The MovingVoices online course is now credited as in-service or
contact hours/credits for US teachers in New York City, Delaware,
Washington
State, Rhode Island and New Jersey.
Whether independently or with other MovingVoices course participants,
the process of learning through the production of a MovingVoices
video becomes a shared experience, a common endeavor, a collaboration
that offers new inroads towards cross-cultural awareness and understanding,
and hopefully, that rare privilege to make a lasting and sustainable
difference in the quality of life on the planet. This is the essence
of MovingVoices.
After producing your video, you can upload it to the MovingVoices
Album within the iEARN Collaboration Centre Gallery for review
and inclusion in the library of searchable videos.
You will be instructed on how to submit your video.
Please send us an e-mail
if you would like to join MovingVoices. We welcome you and hope
you will join us! |
